FAQs

Its much simpler than you think! Avoid soap and use dilute vinegar to sanitize your board. Soap doesn't kill bacteria, it simply washes away dirt and grease. Vinegar will sanitize without striping the wood of oil.

Soap strips the wood of oils, just like it does when you over wash your hands. This will leave the board dry and susceptible to cracking and splintering. Wood hates water but loves oil, just like a cast iron pan! Keep your wooden kitchen products oiled and waxed and they will last a lifetime. Plus they get better with more use!

Upon the first few uses, your brand new wooden product may feel "fuzzy". That is completely normal and expected. Loose wood grain will raise and fall out over time. Not to worry, keep following our care instructions and keep using the board and in no time it will feel as smooth as a baby's bottom again!

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage heavy use. Wooden kitchen products get better over time with more use. Don't be afraid, make that first cut!

There are a number of products out there you can use. We HIGHLY recommend the soak and seal combo over at bumblechutes.com.

If you choose a different oil/wax, just make sure there is no fat products in there. They may go rancid over time!
